Meet the Four-Legged Staff: Layla

LAYLA

Layla is Bridget’s dog and is becoming a staple at Camp Horizons’ barn!  Layla LOVES helping camp staff school the horses and playing fetch, with just about anything.  She is ½ Welsh Corgi, ½ Miniature Australian Shepherd, so that makes her 100% perfect barn dog! Layla understands that some campers may be intimidated or allergic to dogs, so she will have her own space to hang out in this summer.  In the winter, she can be seen sporting her pink doggie blanket!  In the summer, Layla likes to keep cool by eating vanilla ice cream, just like you!

Explorer Dining Hall Renovations

Camp Horizons’ Explorer Dining Hall has had some big changes! The basement has been completely renovated in order to serve as a meeting space for campers and groups that visit the Outdoor Learning Center. The dramatic renovation included removing two support pillars and replacing them with a 4,000 pound beam, installing heat and air conditioning and adding lots of windows to create more light in the space. A drop ceiling was added, the walls were insulated and a large closet was built. The only thing left is to stain the wood trim and the floors! Check out our new Explorer Dining Hall basement!
